As a relatively new Pickleball player I wasn’t too sure about the transition from Mixed Doubles to Singles. How could I cover all of the court with these 65 year old knees? I decided to take a lesson from Randall Wood, a certified trainer and national medal winner in Singles. Wow, what a difference it made in my game. He was very professional, positive, and encouraging.

Randall started with the basics, ….

I thought I would focus on strategy but he helped me to understand how… would pay off the most. He analyzed my game and pointed out several tendencies that were not effective in singles but were predictable for my opponents.

That first lesson opened my eyes and I decided to take another. After my third lesson and some focused practice, I decided to compete in my first tournament, the annual Texas Open Championships. Ultimately, I took a Gold Medal against a retired tennis pro and a very experienced Singles player, among others. During the Gold Medal match I was down 2-8 in the tie breaker to 15 and was feeling the game slip away. I remembered one of the key points that Randall had repeated, …again and again and again. I changed my approach and ended up winning 15-8! If you might imagine, I will be taking more lessons with Randall as I continue to compete. - Steve Loranger

I have been working with Randall on improving my singles game over the past several months. I've moved from 3.5 to 4.0 level 60+ senior tournaments over that time.

Randall is an experienced coach and excellent high level tournament player. He knows what it takes to win.

He has helped me think about my… and how to respond to game situations.

Randall is a great player and also excellent to play against. We play points and often stop and analyze what happened and how I can get better results.

Randall is easy to communicate with. He is always on time and sets up before I get there for the lesson.
